The FCC Group’s construction division, an international leader in the design and construction of infrastructure, has 125 years’ experience and ranks among the leading construction companies in Europe and worldwide.
The activities of the FCC Group’s construction division cover all areas of engineering and construction, and it is a leader in the execution of civil engineering works (roads, railways, airports, hydraulic and maritime works, tunnels, bridges, underground railways, wastewater treatment plants) and building construction (residential and non-residential: healthcare, sports, cultural and corporate facilities, etc.).
It comprises a group of companies operating in the industrial and energy sectors, grouped under a single brand, FCC Industrial, as well as other activities related to the construction sector.
FCC Construcción has been operating in the United Kingdom for over 25 years, becoming one of the country’s leading companies.
It has carried out various projects, notably the construction of the Basarab flyover, an iconic project in Romania and across Europe. The construction of Line 5 of the Bucharest Metro; the refurbishment of various sections of railway line forming part of the Pan-European Railway Corridor; the construction of several sections of the Pan-European Corridor IV motorway between the towns of Timișoara and Arad; and the Constanța Bypass, on the shores of the Black Sea.
The following have been completed: Section 3 of the A8 Motorway (Lețcani – Iași), the Timișoara–Arad Motorway; the Constanța Bypass, a newly routed motorway designed to create a dual-carriageway ring road to the west of this major port city.
Landmark projects have been completed, such as the Basarab flyover (Bucharest), one of the most iconic urban projects in the Romanian capital; and the bridge over the Danube (Vidin–Calafat), a complex bridge construction linking Hungary and Romania.
Finally, the company has modernised Bacău International Airport (one of the country’s main airports), designing and constructing a new runway. It has also completed the Glina Wastewater Treatment Plant (Bucharest), one of the company’s most ambitious and complex environmental projects across the whole of Eastern Europe.
