Urbanisation

FCC Construcción has executed Mapocho Río. This is a project that seeks to recover and revitalize the south bank of this river in the western sector of Santiago, in the communes of Quinta Normal and Cerro Navia. At the end of the project, it will have an area of 52 hectares in a length of 9 kilometers.

The park includes 950 square meters of squares with water games; 4,650 square meters of children's squares; 1350 square meters of sports plazas; 5 playgrounds; 2 soccer fields; 1 skating area incorporating a central figure skating area; 5 multi-courts for sports activity or free use; 2 skatepark; 1 athletics track; 1 free climbing bouldering area; green esplanades and vegetation zones; places for community activities; among others.

Mapocho Río Park

Cuesta de las Chilcas Viaduct (Route 5 North)

This is a 411-metre-long curved viaduct designed to straighten the road alignment in one of the areas with the highest accident rate on Route 5. The major technical challenge lay in founding the enormous bridge piers on slopes with gradients of almost 45 per cent. This required the manual and mechanical excavation of deep foundation pits and the prior stabilisation of the hillside using active anchors and shotcrete. The viaduct was built parallel to the existing carriageway, which demanded precise planning to hoist the girders without interrupting the constant flow of lorries and buses connecting the north with the centre of the country.
