FCC Construcción’s railway experience in Peru is underpinned by its key leadership role within the consortium responsible for the design, construction and outfitting of Line 2 of the Lima and Callao Metro and the Line 4 branch line, the most ambitious mass transit megaproject in the country’s history. This monumental civil engineering project is notable for the excavation of dozens of kilometres of underground tunnels using state-of-the-art tunnel-boring machines (Earth Pressure Balance), designed to safely navigate the complex ground conditions of the Peruvian capital and minimise the impact on the surface of a heavily congested city.
Beyond civil and structural works, the company’s expertise extends comprehensively to the superstructure and technological integration of the railway system. FCC is leading the installation of track, catenary systems and intelligent signalling systems (CBTC), enabling the operation of a fully automated, driverless train fleet (GoA4). In this way, the multinational is consolidating its capacity in the Peruvian market to manage highly complex projects under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, transforming urban connectivity in accordance with the highest global standards of safety and efficiency.
