FCC Construcción (NL) prepares for the renewal of the level 5 CO2 Performance Ladder

FCC Construcción (NL) se prepara para la renovación del level 5 CO2 Performance Ladder

FCC Construcción (NL) is a pioneer in sustainability.  Its commitment to the environment is demonstrated by the fact that it has achieved level 5 CO2 Performance Ladder, which allows it to emit as little CO2 as possible in its activities and in the execution of the A9 BAHO project. This is the highest possible level of the CO2 Performance Ladder. By aiming for level 5 of the performance ladder, FCC Construcción (NL) does not only consider the project's own emissions, but also the CO2 emissions caused by the entire value chain as well as the sector.

FCC Construcción (NL) will soon be audited by an independent body to verify whether the VeenIX A9 BAHO project complies with all the derived requirements to renew the level 5. FCC Construcción (NL) has shown a strong commitment to comply with the requirements of level 5 of the CO2 Performance Ladder manual, version 3.1 for the year 2023. Therefore, all plans and reports related to CO2 Performance Ladder level 5 of FCC Construcción (NL) will be published soon. These plans and reports provide information on our energy and CO2 policy. For example, they explain energy flows as well as targets and measures to reduce CO2 emissions. In addition, plans and reports are formulated to communicate and publish the CO2 policy internally and externally.

An independent audit will be carried out annually to verify our targets as well as CO2 emission reductions and continuous improvements in the processes and activities of FCC Construcción (NL).

FCC Construcción (NL) commits to pursue a reduction of approximately 3,750 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year compared to the baseline calculation offered during the tender phase. The expected reduction comprises 30,000 tonnes of CO2 over the life of the project (2020 to 2028). This reduction will be achieved from 2023 onwards by using renewable energy instead of fossil fuels in the offices and different parts of the project, adopting energy efficiency measures and addressing CO2 emissions related to the four materials with the highest impact on the design: steel, concrete, soil and asphalt.
