FCC Construcción (NL) level 5 CO2 Performance Ladder

FCC Construcción (NL) Performance Ladder de CO2 nivel 5

FCC Construcción (NL) has high ambitions in the field of sustainability. One of our ambitions is to achieve the CO2 Performance Ladder level 5, in order to emit as little CO2 as possible in the operations and in the realization of the A9 BAHO project. This is the highest possible level of the CO2 Performance Ladder. By striving for the performance ladder level 5, FCC Construcción  (NL) not only considers its own emissions of the project, but also the CO2 emissions caused by the entire chain and sector.

On the 16th of March FCC Construcción (NL) will be audited by an independent to verify if the project VeenIX A9 BAHO meets all level 5 requirements. We, FCC Construccion  (NL), are convinced the requirements of level 5 of the CO2 performance ladder manual version 3.1 for the year 2020 are met. Therefore, all the plans and reports related to the CO2 performance ladder level 5 of FCC Construcción (NL) will be listed here soon. These plans and reports provide insight into our energy and CO2 policy. For example, the energy flows are explained as well as the objectives and measures to reduce CO2 emissions. In addition, plans and reports are formulated to communicate and publish the CO2 policy internally and externally.

An independent audit will be conducted annually to verify our ambitions as well as the reductions of CO2 emissions and the continuous improvements with regards to the processes and activities of FCC Construcción (NL). In this way, the value of the CO2 performance ladder level 5 is guaranteed annually.

FCC Construcción (NL) is committed to pursuing a reduction of approximately 3750 tons of CO2 emissions per year with respect to the reference calculation offered during the tender phase. The expected reduction comprises 30.000 tons of CO2 over the project's lifetime (2020 to 2028). This reduction will be achieved starting in 2023 by deploying renewable energy instead of fossil fuels in the office and site locations, adopting energy efficiency measures and tackling CO2  emissions related to the four most impactful materials in the design: steel, concrete, ground & asphalt.

Scope 1 emissions (gas consumption): 300 tons of CO2 reduction
Scope 2 emissions (electricity & business travel): 300 tons of CO2 reduction
Scope 3 emissions (related to materials): 29.400 tons of CO2 reduction
