FCC Construcción has carried out a wide range of major road infrastructure projects in the United States, such as the I-95 Managed Lanes on the Miami-Express, which involved upgrading one of Miami’s busiest roads and which, amongst other accolades, won the ‘America’s Transportation Awards 2009’ in the Innovative Management category.
FCC was responsible for doubling the number of fast lanes (HOV lanes). To resolve the clearance issues on the original alignment, the engineers raised the grade of two existing viaducts using high-capacity hydraulic jacks, splitting the deck and reconnecting it to avoid a complete interruption to traffic flow.
