FCC Construcción Portugal organizes technical visits to promote knowledge sharing and the sustainability of projects

FCC Construcción Portugal is strengthening its commitment to ongoing training and knowledge sharing by organizing technical visits to various construction sites and ongoing projects. These initiatives allow teams to gain a firsthand understanding of on-site realities, foster the exchange of experiences among professionals, and disseminate best practices—technical, environmental, and organizational—throughout the company.

A technical visit was conducted to the construction site of the Rubi Line of the Porto Metro, with participation from environmental service technicians from various contractors. The main objective of the initiative was to promote knowledge sharing within the real-world context of the construction site, allowing participants to gain firsthand insight into the challenges and solutions adopted for one of the most important mobility infrastructure projects currently under development in Portugal.

During the visit, the main applicable legal requirements, the environmental procedures implemented at the construction site, and the measures taken to minimize the impacts of construction activities were presented. The session also facilitated the exchange of experiences among professionals from different projects, contributing to the harmonization of technical criteria and the strengthening of the organization’s environmental culture.

This initiative joins other similar efforts promoted by the Environmental Service, with the aim of providing participants with a comprehensive overview of the various types of environmental projects and solutions implemented in different contexts, thereby enriching the teams’ technical knowledge and fostering collaborative learning.

By leveraging the diversity of projects currently underway, FCC promotes a practical approach to training, encouraging direct engagement with on-site challenges and the sharing of best practices among teams. This exchange of knowledge is essential for the continuous improvement of processes and for strengthening the company’s environmental performance standards.

Knowledge Sharing as a Driver of Sustainability

The technical visits organized by FCC Construcción Portugal play a decisive role in building more sustainable projects. Direct contact with different on-site realities allows teams to learn about innovative solutions, share experiences, and apply practices across the board that contribute to a more efficient use of resources, environmental protection, and the reduction of impacts associated with construction activities. In this way, knowledge sharing becomes a driver of innovation and continuous improvement, generating value for projects, for clients, and for the communities where FCC operates.

Strengthening the Link Between Strategy and Execution

In parallel with the technical visits organized by the Environmental Department, FCC Construcción Portugal has been strengthening direct contact between the management team and the various construction sites through visits conducted as part of the quarterly Management Committees.
These visits allow the company to closely monitor the progress of projects, identify key operational challenges, and foster the exchange of experiences between construction teams and senior management. Direct contact with ongoing projects provides a better understanding of each project’s specific needs and facilitates the identification of opportunities for improvement, innovation, and process optimization.

In addition to strengthening ties between the different levels of the organization, these initiatives contribute to the dissemination of best practices, the strategic alignment of teams, and the consolidation of a corporate culture based on safety, sustainability, innovation, and operational excellence.

Through this set of initiatives, FCC Construcción reaffirms its commitment to valuing its employees, providing ongoing training, and fostering a culture of knowledge sharing—all essential factors for developing projects that are increasingly sustainable, efficient, and aligned with the highest standards of quality and environmental performance.
