FCC Construcción secures two major road projects in Murcia and Madrid
FCC Construcción has won two of the main road construction contracts put out to tender in Spain. On the one hand, it has secured the Arco Norte project in Murcia, and on the other, the contract to upgrade a section of the A-4. The combined value of the two contracts amounts to 125 million euros.
The construction of the first section of the Arco Norte in Murcia, located between kilometre 652 of the A-7 and the Cabezo de Torres junction, covers a distance of 8.3 kilometres and will include 13 structures (3 viaducts, 4 overpasses) to reduce traffic at the Espinardo junction. This infrastructure has long been a priority for the Region of Murcia, given the traffic gridlock on this stretch, where more than 125,000 vehicles travel daily along this route, including travellers passing through from Andalusia and the Valencian Community, as well as vehicles heading for Murcia itself.
The contract for improving public transport accessibility on the A-4 Southern Motorway in Getafe (Madrid), between the Los Molinos and San Marcos industrial estates, from kilometre 12 of the A-4 to Av Leonardo da Vinci (overpass at kilometre 15.2 of the A-4), within the municipality of Getafe, in the province of Madrid. The planned works aim to achieve a substantial improvement in the operating conditions of the A-4 and in the quality of public passenger transport services, reducing journey times and ensuring greater regularity.
