FCC Awarded New Section of Highway in Poland Totaling 140 Million Euros
This award is added to the recent award of the S5 highway in the amount of 245 million euros

The Directorate General of National Highways and Roadways -GDDKiA- of Poland has awarded FCC - through its Austrian subsidiary Alpine Bau GmbH - the completion of the A1 highway on the Świerklany - Gorzyczki section, totaling the amount of 140 million euros.
This is the 18.3 kilometer segment of the A1 highway located between the Świerklany exit and the Czech border in Gorzyczki in southern Poland. The project of this section includes the construction of two connector roads, two rest areas and 31 bridges. The most outstanding structural element is a cable-stayed bridge totaling 380 meters in length.
This award is added to the contract awarded just a few short days ago for the construction of the S5 expressway, also located in Poland, totaling the amount of 245 million euros. The contract consists of the construction of a highway connecting the cities of Poznan and Breslavia and includes the beltways around the urban centers of Bojanowa and Rawicza.
Presence in Poland
With this award, the FCC Group's Austrian subsidiary is further expanding its penetration in Poland, a country where it is carrying out a major infrastructure modernization program. In addition the two aforementioned highway projects, the Group's portfolio of contracts in Poland is comprised of four soccer stadiums, currently in progress, for Poland's 2012 European Cup.
Included are the stadiums in Crakow, Gdansk, Poznan and the National Stadium in Warsaw, making FCC an international reference point in the construction of large-scale sports complexes.
Another prestigious contract won in 2010 is the construction of the new School of Chemical Sciences at the University of Gdansk.
Recently, the job of rehabilitating the Centenniel Hall (Hala Ludowa) in Breslavia, carried out by Alpine, won the award given by the Polish Association of Construction Engineers and Technicians to the Best Construction Project of 2009 in the rehabilitation category.
