FCC Construcción publishes its "Environmental Communication 2023”

FCC Construcción publica su informe “Comunicación Medioambiental 2023”

FCC Construcción publishes its eleventh "Environmental Communication 2023". Since its first edition in 2000, this report has been a voluntary exercise in transparency and accountability for the company's environmental and social performance, with the ultimate aim of becoming a benchmark in the sector in which we operate.

Through our Communication, we highlight the environmental and social actions and good practices developed in our projects in 2022, so that they can serve as inspiration and reference to other companies and, on the other hand, to achieve excellence in our management through internal reflection on our own actions, which commits us even more to the continuous improvement of the overall quality of our activities.

This year, as a novelty, the document has the European Union's Environmental Taxonomy as its guiding thread, highlighting FCC Construcción's efforts to achieve its substantial contribution to the six taxonomic environmental objectives, while at the same time not causing significant damage to them:

  • climate change mitigation;
  • adaptation to climate change;
  • sustainable use and protection of water and marine resources;
  • transition to a circular economy;
  • pollution prevention and control;
  • protection and recovery of biodiversity and ecosystems.

Likewise, and also as a novelty, the Communication is aligned with the environmental section of our Sustainability Strategy 2023-2026, published in June, with the aim that this Report serves for accountability in terms of our ambitious objectives and goals defined to achieve the effective mitigation of our greenhouse gas emissions, the adaptation of our activity and projects to climate change, the transition towards a more circular economy, and the adoption of the best actions to curb pollution and the effect on our environment.

For yet another year, FCC Construcción has an Environmental Management System, certified under the ISO 14001 Standard, which, based on the identification of the risks and effects associated with our actions and the recording of the results of our decisions, allows us to determine the best practices to mitigate the negative impacts related to the works and thus progress in continuous improvement.
