FCC Construcción participates in the United Nations COSP11 Private Sector Forum

FCC Construcción participates in the United Nations COSP11 Private Sector Forum in Qatar (Doha). The forum brought together business leaders, government representatives, civil society, academia, youth and international organisations to address new challenges in the fight against corruption and corporate integrity.

Under the theme ‘Business integrity ready for the future: AI, innovation and global collaboration’, the Forum highlighted the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI), digital tools and cross-sector partnerships in strengthening transparency, accountability and ethical business practices around the world.

Participants examined how AI, blockchain, data analytics and other emerging technologies are revolutionising regulatory compliance, shifting from reactive oversight to proactive, values-based practices. These tools enable businesses and regulators to detect irregularities, flag suspicious transactions and uncover hidden networks of illicit activity with unprecedented speed and accuracy.

Discussions also emphasised the potential of digital innovation to foster real-time accountability, improve youth and citizen engagement, and create new opportunities for knowledge sharing. The sessions were presented in collaboration with leading organisations such as the World Bank, the OECD, Transparency International, the Alliance for Integrity, the Basel Institute on Governance, MACN, CIPE and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

The Forum highlighted the effectiveness of collective action initiatives that bring together businesses, governments, academia, youth, and civil society to address systemic corruption risks.

Launch of the COSP Private Sector Platform

A key milestone of the eleventh session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (COSP11) was the launch of the COSP Private Sector Platform, co-led by UNODC and the United Nations Global Compact. This new mechanism offers businesses a structured and permanent channel to contribute meaningfully to the implementation of UNCAC and follow up on relevant COSP resolutions, such as Resolution 10/12, which called for greater collaboration between the public and private sectors in the fight against corruption.

At the Forum, the Platform outlined the private sector's commitments to strengthening anti-corruption efforts and identified priority initiatives that will be turned into concrete projects in the coming years, with the support of UNODC and the United Nations Global Compact for their implementation.

A unique platform for dialogue between the public and private sectors

The COSP11 Private Sector Forum reaffirmed its role as a unique space for dialogue between governments, civil society, academia, youth and international organisations on integrity challenges across all sectors and regions.

The Forum also built on the momentum of COSP10, where a historic call to action by more than 500 companies from 91 countries helped secure the commitment of 190 States Parties to strengthen private sector integrity measures.

One of the highlights of this year's Forum was the launch of the updated publication An Anti-Corruption Ethics and Compliance Programme for Businesses: A Practical Guide, the new United Nations standard for compliance programmes. The practical guide provides businesses with concrete tools to promote ethical conduct and compliance systems.
