The Aragón Association of Engineering and Consulting Firms has awarded the 2009 ASINCAR Engineering and Society Award in the category of Construction-Environmental Action to the work done by FCC as part of the Ebro River Bank Plan, which involved a section of the La Almozara Park in Zaragoza.

The U4-U5 project combines into a single project the restoration of the river bank and the urban environment through which it flows. More specifically, the project involved the environmental restoration of the banks of the Ebro River in an area of the city that had been on the decline for many years, recovering high quality public spaces which have now been returned to the residents for their use and enjoyment.

One of the most unique elements of the project was the construction of the Pasarela del Voluntariado whose functional component consists of connecting two Zaragoza neighbourhoods, something which residents had been demanding for a long time.

The Pasarela del Voluntariado, respectfully integrated into the river environment, stands out for it slender, elegant lines and offers visitors a splendid view of the river and its banks.
