FCC Construcción has contributed to the drafting of the United Nations Practical Guide entitled “Anti-corruption ethics and compliance programme for Business”. FCC Construcción is the only Spanish company and the only construction firm in the world to actively participate in the United Nations Global Compact’s Think Lab for Business Integrity and in the development of the aforementioned Guide. In this context, the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), as the only universally applicable and legally binding instrument in the fight against corruption, remains indispensable.

This Guide incorporates the principles of transformational governance, an approach developed by the United Nations Global Compact in collaboration with leading companies, to encourage businesses to act not only in accordance with the law, but in accordance with what is right. Transformational governance goes beyond risk mitigation and positions integrity as a driver of long-term value creation, trust and resilience. It emphasises that effective ethics and compliance programmes in the fight against corruption must be rooted in corporate culture, leadership commitment and accountability, whilst remaining adaptable to changing risks and opportunities.

This document also reflects the growing awareness of the interconnection between anti-corruption efforts and broader sustainability agendas. Integrity is no longer viewed as an isolated issue. It is closely linked to environmental management, respect for human rights, diversity and inclusion, the responsible use of technology, and transparent governance.
