FCC Construcción wins the contract for the modernization of the takeoff and landing runway at Bacau Airport (Romania)

FCC Construcción has won the contract for the takeoff and landing runway of one of the reference airports in Romania.

The contract has an amount exceeding 30 million euros and an execution period of 15 months.

Its scope includes the demolition of the existing track, it has a length of 2,500 meters and a width of 45 meters, as well as the restoration on a new track. The takeoff runway will have at its end a platform for maneuvering the return of the aircraft. The total landing area, including the return platform will be more than 115,000 square meters. In addition, the contract includes the rehabilitation of the circulation streets, the expansion of the boarding and landing platform as well as the construction of the airport's perimeter security road, the installation of beaconing on the new runway and the safety platform.

With the new infrastructure, a population of more than 180,000 inhabitants will benefit. Currently, Bacau airport has a traffic of more than 78,000 passengers per quarter. With the execution of this infrastructure, an increase in air traffic will be possible, making it possible to increase take-off and landing operations at the airport.

FCC Construction in Romania

FCC Construcción has a strong presence in Romania. He is currently developing crucial railway projects to improve the country's mobility. The new projects, financed by funds from the European Commission, are part of the railway rehabilitation and modernization project in the European Transport Pan IV Corridor that crosses Romania. The sections include section 2: Km 614-Gurasada, consisting of sub-section 2a: Km 614-Cap Y Bârzava and sub-section 2b: Cap Y Bârzava-Cap Y Ilteu, as well as section 3: Gurasada-Simeria.

The set of the three works consists of the execution and modernization of 121.62 kilometers of railway track; 47 bridges; eight overpasses and seven underpasses; a tunnel of 659 meters in length; 19 stations and five outlets, as well as electrification work and the implementation of the ERTMS system (European Rail Traffic Management System).
