The roof consists of 720 PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) panels covering the 83,000 square metres of the roof area.

The radial membrane was installed at a height of 40 m from the ground in an operation that required unrolling, tightening and installing the panels to the two traction rings. The steel structure weighs 6,336 tonnes and is tensioned with radial cables joined through the membrane.

The membrane material is 35% translucent to favour the lighting of the grandstands.

The modern roof is a unique and differentiating element compared to other European sportsvenues designed in recent years.
