FCC wins a 2026 Autodesk Design & Make Award for the digital delivery of the Scarborough Subway Extension (Canada)

FCC Canada, through Scarborough Transit Connect (STC), a 50/50 consortium between FCC Canada and Aecon, has won a 2026 Autodesk Design & Make Award in Infrastructure Design category.

The Autodesk Design & Make Awards recognize organizations whose projects are transforming their industries and accelerating innovation and this award recognises the Integrated Digital Delivery (IDD) program on the Scarborough Subway Extension – Stations, Rail and Systems project in Toronto.

The STC IDD program and its common data environment is built on Autodesk Construction Cloud aligned with the ISO 19650 standard. It brings the project's 15 engineering disciplines, six construction zones and 14 work packages together into a single, verified source of truth shared by designers, contractors and the client. This approach turns digital delivery into a system for project delivery, with live information rather than reviewing it after the fact.

"This recognition reflects FCC's commitment to innovation and digitalization in the design and construction of mobility infrastructure. Together with our partner Aecon and our client Metrolinx, the STC team is showing how digital tools can strengthen collaboration on one of the most important transit projects in Canada," said Samuel Mena, Deputy Project Director, Scarborough Transit Connect.

The Scarborough Subway Extension will extend the Toronto Transit Commission's Line 2 subway by 7.8 kilometres, from Kennedy Station to McCowan Road and Sheppard Avenue. It includes three new stations and is being delivered for Metrolinx under a Progressive Design-Build model.
