The new Guía de Isora desalination plant awarded to FCC

The Canary Island government has selected the consortium made up of FCC Construcción, Aqualia Infraestructuras and local firm Traysesa to draft the design for and build a seawater desalination plant west of Tenerife, inside the municipal limits of Guía de Isora. The project, which also includes pre-commissioning work in the six months following the conclusion of construction, has a budget of nearly 16 million euro.

This plant will be rated for a capacity of 14,000 cubic metres of water a day and will increase its production in phase two to 21,000 cubic metres. The water it produces will be for the towns of Guía de Isora and Santiago de Teide. The plant design includes deep seawater intake shafts, chemical and physical pretreatment, three reverse osmosis lines, brine discharge through an outlet with an overland section and an underwater section and power supply lines from the Guía de Isora substation.
