The Magic Box, built by FCC, receives an award from the Galvanization Association

The Spanish Technical Association of Galvanization -ATEG- has awarded its annual prizes. These awards distinguish outstanding building, civil engineering and urban equipment works in which significant or innovative use of galvanized steel has been made.

The jury has awarded the prize to the Magic Box, an installation promoted and managed by Madrid Espacios y Congresos and built by FCC. In this sixth edition, a total of 81 projects have been presented.

The image of the Caja Mágica is directly related to galvanized steel, a material used both in a multitude of structural elements, and in a large part of its characteristic interior linings, large false ceiling plates, perimeter protection elements, railings, etc.

The sports complex, the work of Dominique Perrault, combines high technology with design, functionality and respect for the environment. Inside it houses two buildings, the Magic Box itself and the Tennis Indoor. The first has three stadiums of different capacities. One of the most relevant features is its mobile covers, which can adopt different configurations: totally open, semi-open or closed.

The Tennis Indoor, with a length of 600 meters, houses 11 indoor courts and a large administrative area. Both infrastructures are organized around a 25,000 m2 artificial lake and a 50,000 m2 garden area, combining avant-garde design with sustainability.
