Delhi Metro Rail chooses Alpine to build a new section of underground in India
Alpine has been awarded the contract to build the first section of the underground line between New Delhi and the Indira Gandhi International Airport, in a temporary joint venture with other companies. The 3.7 km section will include two stations, New Delhi and Shivaji. Valued at €139.3 million, the work is to start this year and is scheduled to finish in less than three years.
The work will use two tunnel boring machines with earth pressure barriers (EPBs) measuring over 6 metres in diameter to bore two tunnels, each 2.192 km long.
