FCC Construcción’s 2013-2014 Sustainability Report Now Published Under the New GRI-G4 Guidelines

The 2013-2014 Sustainability Report has been verified by AENOR and has earned exhaustive compliance status under the GRI’s new G4 Guidelines. The report has been prepared under the “materiality focus”, which means it concentrates fundamentally at material aspects having to do with our way of managing human rights, labour standards, the environment and the fight against corruption.

Following the three strategic lines of the Third Master Plan on Responsibility for 2012-2014, and upholding our ongoing commitment to dialogue and information transparency, in this document we have itemized the objectives and actions we have set up to respond to the different concerns of our stakeholders.

The new 2013-2015 Strategic Plan, which advocates concentrating on strategic business areas and fostering international activity in the most stable, profitable areas of the world, is reflected in the fact that FCC Construcción is currently doing business in 35 countries, and 62% of its project backlog now lies outside Spain.

Switching to a new context has generated new needs. Accordingly, in 2013 the PETRA programme was started up for projects in the international area as well, and the company earned certification for its worldwide Management and Sustainability System pursuant to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 for all the different countries where it does business.

In the social sphere, FCC Construcción reports training figures similar to those of past fiscal years despite the fact that its workforce is smaller. Various awareness activities were organized, such as Disability and Social and Occupational Integration Week and in-house efforts to publicize the Spanish Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality’s campaign against gender violence.

Because FCC Construcción is aware of its industry’s effect on the environment, good environmental practices are planned and adopted in all FCC projects. These practices go far beyond strict compliance with legislation. In addition, during fiscal 2013 FCC Construcción participated in the preparation of the FCC Group’s Climate Change Strategy and worked to expand the quantification and verification of scope-3 emissions in the greenhouse gas emissions inventory.

Lastly, the 2013-2014 Sustainability Report contains a large number of practical cases illustrating the company’s performance in training, local economic development, the environment, human resources and innovation in the different countries where FCC Construcción can be found.
