The FCC Group's construction division increases its portfolio by 30% in the first quarter of 2025

The FCC Group's construction division increased its portfolio by 30% in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. The international division recorded growth of 42.6%, thanks to the addition to the portfolio of the implementation phase of the Scarborough metro extension in Canada, where, following completion of the development phase, the construction phase has been signed, representing more than €1.9 billion.
Meanwhile, revenues from the FCC Group's construction division adjusted slightly (3.4%) to more than €626 million, mainly due to the commissioning of international projects such as section II of the Maya Train in Mexico and lines 4-5-6 of the Riyadh Metro (Saudi Arabia). Meanwhile, projects such as the extension of the A-465 motorway in Wales, United Kingdom, are less advanced as they are nearing completion.
In Spain, turnover adjusted by 7.6% to €260.8 million, due to the completion of projects such as the refurbishment of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, together with slower progress on works such as the new ONCE headquarters and the closure of the Tenerife Island Ring Road. In Europe, turnover grew by 9.8% to €196.7 million, mainly supported by progress on the Lugoj-Timisoara railway section (Romania) and the expansion of the A-9 motorway in the Netherlands. In America, major projects are currently underway, such as the refurbishment of various bridges in Pennsylvania (USA) and the various important railway projects that the company is executing in Toronto (Canada).
Gross operating profit fell slightly by 10.3% compared to the same period in 2024, reaching €34.9 million. The completion of certain international projects, with a higher relative contribution margin, resulted in an operating margin of 5.6%, four tenths lower than in the same period of 2024 and in line with the forecast for the period under review.

This contract was awarded in 2022 and extends line 2 of the metro (Bloor-Danforth section) by nearly 8 kilometres in the country's largest city.
