FCC wins 30-year contract to build and operate the Torrejón de Ardoz Hospital
The investment in construction and equipment totals 139 million euros and the construction period is 18 months.

The Community of Madrid has awarded FCC Construcción, in a joint venture, a contract to build and operate the Torrejón de Ardoz Hospital on a concession basis for thirty years which involves an investment of 139 million euros in medical and non-medical equipment. The construction period is 18 months.
The new Torrejón de Ardoz Hospital will be located on 62,396 m2 of land, with a total of 52,959 m2 of floor space, 14,920 m2 of parking and 40,000 m2 of urbanisation.
The hospital will have four main blocks (Technical Block, Hospitalisation, Consultation and Installations) and the capacity to accommodate 250 beds, ten operating theatres, six delivery rooms, two dilation rooms, twelve dialysis stations with individual rooms and the latest medical technology. The design alternates between buildings and courtyards to optimise lighting and ventilation conditions.
The contract also calls for the renovation of an existing 4,400 m2 Speciality Centre which will basically introduce betterments to the existing facilities.
The Hospital will serve some 133,000 residents of Ajalvir, Daganzo de Arriba, Fresno del Torote and Ribatejada, in addition to Torrejón.
FCC's experience in hospital construction
FCC recently built the 110-bed Hospital del Sureste in Arganda del Rey for the Community of Madrid and has numerous references of renovated or newly-constructed medical buildings including the Hospital Clínico San Carlos (Madrid), the new Mataró Hospital (Barcelona), the Hospital General de Ciudad Real, the Hospital San Agustín (Asturias), the Hospital Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria (Tenerife), the Hospital Universitario de Canarias (Tenerife) and the Hospital Marqués de Valdecilla. (Santander).
FCC recently commenced work on the construction of the 300-bed Enniskillen Hospital in Northern Ireland, the first concession of its kind awarded to a Spanish company in the United Kingdom.
