The LABoral Art and Industrial Creation Centre has received an award naming it the Principality of Asturias' best cultural web site, in the thirteenth annual awards founded by the El Comercio newspaper.

The La Laboral. Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial Foundation is the organization that oversees LABoral, an art centre in Gijón that FCC supports as an associate corporate member. The foundation promotes artistic creation as a vital part of society's development and fosters dialogue between art and industry.

LABoral has received the 2011 award for Asturias' best web site, given by El Comercio and sponsored by the Principality, BBVA, Correos and Feve. In addition, LABoral's web site has been acknowledged as Asturias' finest cultural web site.

The awards, accepted by LABoral's manager, Lucía García, are an acknowledgement of the on-line strategy launched by the LABoral team and embodied in the new design for the centre's web page www.laboralcentrodearte.org .

The new web page relies strongly on social networks as a complementary means of communication and dissemination that helps spread the word about its activities to different areas and engage audiences that are physically scattered far afield. In addition, the web page is conceived as a platform for artistic experimentation and as an element of communication and dissemination for LABoral's action areas, which are Exhibiting, Production, Education and Public Programme. To get this strategy off the ground, LABoral has joined forces with the team at INTK, a studio with headquarters in Utrecht that focuses on developing on-line strategies in the creation and culture sector.
