Awarded for the T4 terminal at Barajas Airport

FCC Construcción receives the International Puente de Alcántara award

The tenth Spanish peninsular International Puente de Alcántara award from the San Benito de Alcántara foundation has been awarded to the T4 Terminal at Madrid's Barajas Airport, a project led by FCC Construcción.

The award recognises the relevance of this special project, one of the largest carried out in Europe. Given the continued growth in air traffic, AENA (Aeropuertos Españoles y Navegación Aérea) developed the Barajas Plan, involving the creation of two new runways, public and private transport connections and the building of a new terminal with three buildings, the new terminal building, built by FCC, the satellite terminal and car parking.

This biannual award is designed to give recognition to the Latin American public works which, in the jury's opinion, have the greatest cultural, technological, aesthetic, functional and social importance, while considering the technical and aesthetic quality and the perfection achieved in carrying out the project. The award is shared between the promoter, designers and builders of the winning project. In Latin America, the award went to the hydroelectric project in Irapé, Minas Gerais ( Brazil).

The January 2008 issue of the magazine Obras Públicas contains an article on this edition of the awards describing the winning projects and those presented.
