- The new accesses will be open by the end of the year
- The project is part of the Tres Cantos development work, in which more than 200 million euros have been invested
The deputy councilman for Transport, Infrastructure and Housing, Borja Carabante, and Tres Cantos Mayor Jesús Moreno visited road M-607, built by FCC.
Two new M-607 access roads will handle traffic to and from the Nuevo Tres Cantos development and make it easier for local vehicles to join the northward and Madrid-bound traffic on the Colmenar road.
A service road is included, as is a renovated bike lane, for better-than-ever safety conditions.
Borja Carabante says, “The construction of these two access roads is just another example of how public/private partnerships can do a lot in the way of efficient infrastructure upkeep, especially when economic times are bad”.
The project covers the expansion and improvement of a two-kilometre section of road M-607 plus the creation of the two new approaches to the city. It’s the crowning touch on Nuevo Tres Cantos, one of the Community of Madrid’s most important developments. The construction of Nuevo Tres Cantos was also entrusted to FCC, under a concession granted by the Tres Cantos City Council in 2005. Over 200 million euros have been invested in it.
The Tres Cantos City Council has already taken delivery of most of the development’s residential area, which is fully outfitted with all urban services and public transport facilities. Of the 7,000 homes included in the project, 1,800 have already been handed over and another 1,500 are under construction. Numerous builders and cooperatives are busy preparing their blueprints, getting their permits and marketing another 1,000 homes. The project is expected to reach completion in late 2013, making this development one of the Community of Madrid’s strongest investment magnets.
The Tres Cantos development has really spurred employment. Sixty-five companies have been involved in the work, and another 154 have supplied the necessary materials. The project has occupied an average of 120 workers a day, with peaks of up to 300 workers.
