Opening of the Arad-Timisoara Dual Carriageway in Romania

The work was done by FCC in a joint venture with Astaldi and took two years to complete. The dual carriageway is 32.25 kilometres long and runs between the western Romanian cities of Timisoara and Arad. The road has two 3.75-metre-wide lanes in each direction and 3.00-metre-wide verges. The contracted budget was 161 million euros.
Although the section is now open to traffic, work will not be entirely wound up until March of next year. This section of dual carriageway is part of what is known as Pan-European Corridor IV, which will eventually join the cities of Dresden, Germany, and Istanbul, Turkey. The corridor has European funding.
FCC Is Consolidated in Romania
FCC has been a fixture in this country since 2003 through its Romanian subsidiary FCC Constructii Romania. It is proud to participate in the development of the country's infrastructure.
Two of the foremost projects currently in progress are the Arad-Nadlac Dual Carriageway, which was awarded to FCC's Austrian subsidiary ALPINE, and the design and construction of the Constanta Bypass. In addition, FCC-built Basarab Viaduct was opened On 17 December last the Arad-Timisoara Dual Carriageway in Romania was opened. The ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister of Romania, Emil Boc, Minister for Transport Anca Boagiu and representatives of the building consortium, a partnership between FCC and Italian construction firm Astaldi.last June. This huge-scale viaduct is sure to become one of Bucharest's most famous sights.
