Roman necropolis found at the SE-40 roadwork site

The necropolis discovered in Alcalá de Guadaira, in the second section of road SE-40 now being built by FCC, is one of the most important cremation sites found to date in Sevilla, since 120 tombs have been identified and half of those hold cremations.

The dig so far indicates that this site, located between Alcalá and Dos Hermanas, was an important complex of Roman villas from the first to the sixth century AD.

In addition to the burials, the foundations of two Roman villas and over 600 coins have been found.
