FCC wins the 587-million-dollar contract for Ciudad Hospitalaria in Panama

The Social Security Treasury of the Republic of Panama has issued its final decision on the tender for bids to build Ciudad Hospitalaria. The winner is Construcciones Hospitalarias, a consortium pairing FCC Construcción with FCC Construcción de Centroamérica, and the contract is worth 587 million dollars (around 440 million euro). The turnkey project is slated to be completed within three years.

The Directorate-General of Government Procurement has dismissed all appeals and handed down a decision stating that Construcciones Hospitalarias meets all the established requirements. The decision also says FCC's bid offers the best value and earns the highest technical score.

The Director-General of the Social Security Treasury, Guillermo Sáez Llorens, expressed his satisfaction with the process and the work done by the Tender Evaluation Committee. This tender is the biggest project ever developed by the Social Security Treasury, and it is going to change health in Panama definitively.

FCC will prepare the design and the area's development, and it will provide the construction, financing and equipment for the Ciudad Hospitalaria mega-project, Central America's biggest healthcare structure ever.
