The Ministry of Development has selected FCC Construcción, in a joint venture, to build the new Vigo railway station and the last section of the station approach track from the mouth of the tunnelling work on calle Isaac Peral, for a total of over 75 million euro.

The tender includes the railway portion of the job, with the construction of the underground level providing access to the AVE high-speed train, which will have six rails and four 400-metre-long rail beds, affording room for nine trains at once, and the terminal building designed by US architect Thom Mayne. The job also includes a 40,000-square-metre plaza on the roof of the future railway complex.

FCC Construcción (in a joint venture) is currently involved in building the tunnels in the eight-kilometre-long section that ends at the accesses to the new station.
