"Competitiveness Through Innovation in Building Firms" was the name of the workshop held on 13 and 14 March. It was organized by the University of Valladolid at the Chamber of Contractors of Castilla y León, to spread the word about the new possibilities available to builders through innovation.

Representatives of different firms from the sector looked at the role of RDI in building companies.

Esteban Lefler, who is Innovation and Technology manager at FCC Construcción, delivered an address entitled, "Organization of Innovation in Companies". He declared that the crisis is an opportunity for business, and that the future necessarily involves Europe and budgeting for innovation. Construction can get a lot out of integrating information technologies for infrastructure management, and it can respond to the European continent's demand for sustainable building retrofitting.
