FCC Participates in the Infrastructure Seminar Organized by the British Embassy in Madrid

FCC gave a presentation at the Infrastructure Seminar organized by the British Embassy in Madrid on 8 February last.
The event, which was held at Torre Espacio on Paseo de la Castellana, was attended by the British ambassador and leading members of Trade and Investment who are involved in the British government's National Infrastructure Plan 2011, including the chairman of Infrastructure, Paul Skinner. Mr Skinner reviewed the strategic lines of the Plan, which calls for heavy investment in transport, communications, energy and environmental infrastructure, aimed at improving and modernizing the UK's infrastructure through 40 major projects. Mr Skinner said the British market sees big Spanish building firms as being good at major projects.
The event congregated different representatives of Spanish companies and consultancies that do business in the United Kingdom, including Ferrovial's representative, Ignacio Clopés, and Rafael Foulquié, who is in charge of FCC Construcción in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Mr Foulquié talked about the experience FCC has gained in that market in the case of the New Acute Hospital in Enniskillen, Ireland, which FCC is building under a concession.
Some speakers from Trade and Investment highlighted FCC as the only Spanish company on board for the 2012 London Olympics. FCC is slated to build the International Broadcast Centre (IBC).
FCC in the UK and Ireland
FCC is a stable presence in the United Kingdom and Ireland. It holds the concession for the New Acute Hospital in Enniskillen, Ireland, which has a contract budget of 270 million pounds (300 million euros) and is scheduled to be finished in mid-2012. In the United Kingdom, FCC is the only Spanish company participating in the creation of infrastructure to house the 2012 Olympics; FCC will be working on the IBC (International Broadcast Centre), a 56,000-m2 press facility.
