FCC participates in the second Central American Finance & Investment Forum in Panama

FCC Construcción participated in the Second Central American Finance & Investment Forum organised by Latinfinance, the leading intelligence source of the financial markets in Latin America and the Caribbean, held on 10 and 11 March in Panama.

The main topics addressed during the forum sessions were the economic growth of Central American countries and how it is making investments in the area increasingly more attractive; how infrastructure development requires fresh capital, which has forced companies to face new financial needs; and the use of capital markets in the region: bonds, shares and loans are on the increase.

The forum brought together important regional and governmental figures, as well as investors from private and multinational companies. FCC was represented at this event by Antonio López, Administration and Finance Manager of FCC Construcción for Central America and Mexico, who was a member of the panel that discussed the topic "Infrastructure, Finance, Bonds and Projects".

Antonio López spoke about how governments can help to make investors increasingly interested in projects in each country. He also talked about the importance of maintaining a stable and akin regulatory framework in the countries, which makes investors participate increasingly more in tenders, and that projects undertaken should be self-sustainable.

He also spoke about two projects that have different financing strategies, namely, the Line 1 and 2 of the Panama Metro, in which FCC forms part of the construction Consortium. "Line 1 of the Panama Metro was entirely a public works project, while Line 2 is a financed one, demonstrating that in countries like Panama, different and new methods for large-scale projects are being used," said López. "Central America is a region that offers many opportunities in different infrastructure areas," he said.
