The Generalitat de Catalunya, through the public company Ifercat, has awarded FCC in a joint venture with other companies the 30-year public works concession contract for the construction, conservation, maintenance and operation of various infrastructures on section I of the line 9 of the Barcelona metro for 1,041 million euros, of which 630 million euros correspond to the work that remains to be carried out.

The section consists of 13 stations that go from El Prat airport to Amadeu Torner. The works will consist of completing the stations and undertaking the architecture and facilities without the cross-sectional elements such as lifts, escalators, platform doors and fare barriers.

The work executed so far will be liquidated to the Administration. The awards do not involve modifications regarding the ownership of the network.

Currently, 22.9 kilometers of the 47.8 kilometers of L9 have been built and 75% of the stations are being built. L9 will be fully operational between 2013 and 2014.
