This certification means that the data centre, both in the construction process and when it subsequently began its operation, has complied with a set of regulations on the use of strategies focused on sustainability in all types of buildings.

The project voluntarily included aspects related to energy efficiency, the use of alternative energy, the improvement of indoor environmental quality, efficient water consumption, sustainable development of spaces separate from the plot and the selection of materials. The up-and-running complex constitutes the first building in Spain to be certified in the LEED Platinum category, the maximum awarded by this system.

The works involved the construction of one main building with two bodies, an auxiliary building, facilities and services for proper operation of the building.

The TIER IV Data Processing Centre has 99.995% accessibility, which means that there are only 26 minutes of the year when access is not guaranteed, thereby making it one of the most secure buildings insofar as data processing is concerned. The facilities have a modular design and a cooling system in the IT suites to ensure maximum energy saving.

The works had an implementation budget of 3 million euro and finished in a record completion time of six months.

With this project it was possible to create R&D&I infrastructure, thereby fostering local economic development.

LEED is a certification system of sustainable buildings, developed by the US Green Building Council, initially implemented in the year 1998 and used in several countries ever since.
