FCC to build a new rest stop on an Austrian motorway

The contract is worth 15 million euro

The Austrian motorway company ASFINAG has awarded the contract to build a new rest stop on the motorway joining Hörbranz and Voralberg, Austria, to a joint venture including ALPINE, FCC's Austrian subsidiary, for 15 million euro.

The rest stop will be built on the side of the motorway heading from Germany to Austria. There will be another petrol station on the eastern side, with an underpass providing access to the food service area. The German firm Schindele will be operating the petrol station, and the Swiss company My Shop will be managing the food service and shopping area.

The design, which highlights the regional aspect with an impressive wooden structure, was created by Lenz Architects.

Construction will begin in 2011 and is scheduled to be finished by mid-2012.
