FCC Construcción reaffirms its climate commitment by renewing its “Calculo, Reduzco y Compenso” seal from the MITERD Carbon Footprint, Offsetting, and CO₂ Absorption Projects Registry
FCC Construcción has renewed, for another year, the “Calculo, Reduzco y Compenso” seal from the MITERD's Carbon Footprint, Offsetting and CO₂ Absorption Projects Registry, corresponding to the 2024 financial year.
This recognition accredits the company's commitment to sustainability, having achieved, for the third consecutive year, a reduction in the ratio of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions during the last three years, despite an increase in its production volume. In addition, FCC Construcción reinforces its environmental responsibility through voluntary emissions offsetting, consolidating its commitment to more environmentally friendly construction.
This year, FCC Construcción has gone one step further in its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint: in addition to offsetting its emissions from water consumption, the company took a pioneering step by hosting a carbon-neutral event, setting a precedent in its strategy to combat climate change. Specifically, the carbon-neutral event was the annual meeting of FCC Construcción's senior management, reaffirming the company's commitment to sound and ethical governance in sustainability matters.
Likewise, the calculation and verification of FCC Construcción's carbon footprint are carried out in accordance with ISO 14064-1:2018 and the GHG Protocol, rigorous internationally recognized standards that give the carbon footprint greater transparency and credibility. Although the Seal reflects GHG emissions in Spain in the 2024 financial year, the process of calculating, verifying, and certifying FCC Construcción's carbon footprint covers 100% of its activity, corresponding, for the fourth consecutive year, to the total emissions produced in 22 countries: Spain, Portugal, Bulgaria, Romania, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium, Norway, the Netherlands, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, El Salvador, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Canada, the United States, Qatar, Australia, and Saudi Arabia.
