FCC Construcción participates in the publication entitled Construcción Sostenible (Sustainable Construction) which is promoted by the Entorno Foundation.

Fundación Entorno-BCSD España has presented its publication entitled "Construimos Valor. Incentivos a la Construcción Sostenible", -We build Value. Incentives for Sustainable Construction-, the first result of the Sustainable Construction Working Group of which FCC Construcción is a member, along with another 9 companies: Acciona, Adif, Bancaja Habitat, Cemex, Grupo Eroski, Gas Natural, Holcim, IBERDROLA Inmobiliaria and Philips. The report analyses the economic, environmental and social challenges facing the construction sector, and proposes a series of actions and incentives for implementation in the market to foster the creation of sustainable value.

For the first time in Spain, leading companies in the sector have participated in this publication, representing the construction entire life cycle, from resources and services, planning, execution, promotion and construction, to the use and demolition of infrastructures and buildings.  In addition it has received the cooperation of BBVA and a Panel of Experts guided by the Spanish Sustainability Observatory with wide experience in city planning, architecture, mobility, energy, housing and economy.

The companies are committed to the incorporation of a triple approach (economic, environmental and social) in construction that must cover the entire life cycle and integrate all the actors intervening in the chain of value. The report, which provided food for thought on the challenges of the current model of sustainable development, proposes a battery of measures and incentives aimed at the public and private sectors, some of which are already guiding the construction market at international level. These actions are aimed at encouraging the creation of sustainable value based on six main lines of action: territorial planning, existing buildings (rehabilitation), energy, use of resources and environmental impact, sustainable mobility and quality of life.

Finally, the publication describes 13 successful case studies of the Sustainable Construction Working Group companies showing how the introduction of environmental and social criteria creates a competitive advantage for businesses. It includes the following practical cases contributed by FCC Construcción: commitment to the prevention of occupational risks, integration of disabled persons and efforts to share with society best environmental practices and an environmental management system through the environmental communication that was awarded a prize in the sustainability and social corporate responsibility category in the 2007 Garrigues-Expansión CIIS Environmental Awards.
