FCC Construcción has participated in the "Observatory of Infrastructure for Mobility of Madrid" organized by the Prisa Group. The event, inaugurated by the Ministry of Development, brought together the main executives of the country's construction companies, together with various regional and municipal political personalities as well as different agents related to mobility and infrastructures.

The Minister of Fomento, in his opening speech, underlined the fundamental role of the Cercanías network, within a model of investment in sustainable and safe mobility. "The days are very opportune because they succeed in the moment of radical transformation that mobility and infrastructures are experiencing: digitalization, technology, the new financial context, are transforming infrastructures in all areas".

In the act, a survey of mobility of the city of Madrid was presented, in which among other data it was exposed that seven out of ten Madrilenians do not use public transport.

This first observatory also brought together the municipal spokespersons of the main political parties, who debated the future of mobility of the city.

For its part SEOPAN, proposed seven infrastructure projects for the Community of Madrid: burial of the A-5 and the A-42 passing through Getafe; the burial of northern Castellana; the north end of M-30 that will link the Avenue of the Enlightenment to the height of the painter Salvador Maella with Avenida de la Paz in its northern section; the extension of metro line 11; the creation of service roads on the M-40; and an extension of the Madrid suburban service that connects the Henares Corridor and the metropolitan southwest.

Finally, the Consejera de transporte, urbanismo y vivienda of the Community of Madrid, Rosalía Gonzalo, emphasized the extension of line 11 of the Madrid Metro, as a project includes four stations that will allow the deployment of high-capacity trains equipped with the most advanced technology. In addition, the project will include a new transport interchange in Conde Casal.

FCC Construcción and Plaza España

The construction area of the FCC Group, together with the company PACSA, have been the winners of the comprehensive remodeling contract for the Plaza de España in Madrid. The project has a budget of 62 million euros and a deadline of 21 months.

The remodeling of the Plaza de España has been designed by the architects Fernando Porras Isla-Fernández, Aranzazu La Casta Muñoa and Lorenzo Fernández-Ordóñez Hernández, whose project was the winner of the ideas competition organized by the City Council after being selected as a finalist by a jury of experts and later elected by the citizens of the capital "through a broad process of participation".

With the reform to be executed by FCC, a substantial improvement in mobility will be allowed, reducing pollution and therefore benefiting the city's sustainability.

In addition, thousands of jobs will be created that will allow the revitalization of the commerce and the hotels in the area. The project will reduce motorized road traffic, thus increasing pedestrian spaces and establishing a continuous line of pedestrianization and green areas connecting the gardens of the Plaza de Oriente with the gardens of Sabatini, the Parque del Oeste and the Templo de Debot and Madrid Río.
