The Board of Directors of Veolia Environnement resolved to appoint Esther Koplowitz a company director, effective as of 1st January 2010, at its meeting of 17 December last.

The appointment, which was made on a proposal by Board Chairman Henri Proglio, is grounded on Esther Koplowitz's vast business experience and thorough knowledge of the sector of citizen services and the environment.

Esther Koplowitz is vice chairman and main shareholder of the FCC Group, vice chairman of the Cementos Portland Valderrivas Group and president of the Esther Koplowitz Foundation.

Esther Koplowitz, who has for years been closely related with the leading water and environmental services group, sat on the board of the original Compagnie Générale des Eaux in 1998 and was a director of Veolia Environnement from 2000 to 2002.

Veolia Environnement and FCC have for several years shared a subsidiary, Proactiva Medio Ambiente, S.A., which does business in Latin America.
