The Central Roads Administration of Rumania has given the contract for a 32-kilometre-long section of what goes by the name of "the European Corridor", between the cities of Timisoara and Arad in western Rumania, to a joint venture featuring FCC Construcción for 161.2 million euro. The completion period is 24 months.

The motorway has two 3.75-metre-wide lanes of traffic in each direction, three-metre-wide verges and a four-metre median. The job includes the construction of 31 bridges and 13 crosswise drainage structures, plus a service area that will house operations, maintenance and police buildings. Some 440,000 tonnes of asphaltic agglomerate will be used in paving.
