Ramalho Rosa Cobetar concludes the assembly of the metal structure at Corges Bridge

Ramalho Rosa Cobetar, as part of the modernization of the railway section between Covilhã and Guarda, on the Beira Baixa line, concludes the assembly of the metal structure on the Corges bridge.
The Corges Bridge is one of 6 metal bridges to be dismantled and manufactured and assembled in the total of the contract. The Covilhã-Guarda section crosses the municipalities of Covilhã, Belmonte and Guarda and comprises the rehabilitation of the railway and catenary between Covilhã and Guarda Stations and Covilhã Station, in addition to the intervention in two stations: Guarda and Belmonte and four apiardeiros: Caria, Maçainhas, Benespera and Sabugal.
The contract awarded to Ramalho Rosa Cobetar (RRC), represents an investment of 52 million euros, and will allow the reopening to rail operation of a 46 km section that has been closed to rail since 2009.
This is a very important intervention in the requalification of the railways in Portugal, in a section that is part of the North International Corridor and whose implementation will boost the dynamization of rail transport, inter-regional links and the connection to Spain.
