Executive Corporate Social Responsibility Plan

In line with FCC Group’s corporate guidelines on sustainability and Social Responsibility, the company fosters a working culture based on responsible actions developing bonds of mutual trust with citizens, responding to the needs of stakeholders and acting under the guidance of transparency and good governance.

In recent years FCC Construcción has identified an increasing need to reinforce its strategy aimed atimplementing specific social responsibility programs in Costa Rica to drive comprehensive development in the areas which it operates. This includes incorporating programmes and activities of a social and environmental nature, such as contributing to sustainabile development in the country.

The various programs shine light on the need to address the following aimsimplemented by FCC Construcción aim to achieve the following:

  • Steer business discourse in terms of corporate social responsibility and the roles of spokespersons for different circumstances.
  • Define lines of action on CSR issues.
  • Assist different FCC areas in designing, developing and implementing social-environmental programmes in compliance with responsibility and sustainability.
  • Promote and disseminate the policy, strategy and actions both externally and internally.
  • Provide a framework for action to manage the projects, programmes and/or activities either directly or through partnerships:
    • Focus resources on strategic projects with an impact on nearby communities, both in social and environmental aspects, through education on environmental protection as well as covering road safety, culture, sports and healthcare.
    • Make connections with groups, organisations and/or social advocacy institutions of CSR in Costa Rica, as well as agreements with state institutions.
  • Act in an honest and transparent way to develop trusted bonds with stakeholders.
  • Create awareness through FCC and its subcontractors engaging in socially responsible management including voluntary work, face-to-face training of on-site staff, and instilling ethical behaviour in all employees.

A sustainable corporate culture

FCC Construcción is a company which creates value through its activities, takes care of the people around, the environment and the community where it is operating and understands that sustainability forms part of the company strategy.

The Sustainability Committee is composed of members representing the highest levels of the company. The observation of human rights and labour rights, respect for the environment and the company ethic form part of the corporate principles and of the people linked to the company.
