The construction project for Lines 2 and 4 of the Lima metro, carried out by FCC, is 72% complete

The construction project for the first underground metro in Lima and Callao, lines 2 and 4 of the Lima metro (Peru), carried out by FCC, is now 72% complete. Recently, excavation of 22 of its total 27 kilometers was completed upon reaching La Alborada station in downtown Lima.
Thanks to the progress of the Delia tunnel boring machine, which operates at a depth of more than 20 meters, 9 kilometers have been drilled and more than 4,200 concrete segments have been installed to reinforce the tunnel.
It is currently advancing towards Elio station and then to the stations located in the districts of Bellavista, Carmen de la Legua, and Callao, where it will complete the remaining five kilometers of its route. The first phase of Metro Line 2 is already operational with five stations in service since 2023 and has served more than 20 million users in the district of Ate, in eastern Lima.
On the other hand, the remaining 14 stations are under construction, which are 90% complete, and another six stations are 100% complete.
With a budget of €4.9 billion, Line 2 will cross Lima from east to west along 27 kilometers and will have 27 stations, 28 ventilation shafts and emergency exits, a maintenance yard, and 35 trains.
The travel time between Ate and Callao will be reduced from 2.5 hours to 45 minutes, transporting 660,000 passengers per day, with an estimated demand of 1.2 million passengers per day.
