FCC participates in the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCWC) in Barcelona

A year on, the FCC Group will participate in the most important smart city event: the Smart City Expo World Congress 2018 (SCWC), leading world congress, held in Barcelona between 13 and 15 November. A wide range of experts, municipal representatives, institutions, academic leaders, research centres, companies and entrepreneurs attend the congress every year.

This year, FCC will be represented by the Environmental and Construction business areas (Industrial). The company will offer relevant information about these two business areas and their position within the Smart City framework at stand B-243, using screens, panels and interactive displays to exhibit its most innovative projects.

Moreover, the Environmental Services area of FCC Group will present the world premiere of the first e-mobility platform for Urban Services at the conference centre on Wednesday, 14 November at 1:30 pm and during which the lorry will also be on display at stand B-216.

FCC Medio Ambiente unites forces in this edition of the congress with Fundación Once and the Organisation of the 2018 Smart City Expo World Congress through ‘FCC Equal’, its Special Employment Centre, and the "Job Insertion" Programme of La Caixa, with the purpose of creating the "First Employment Fair for Groups with particular difficulties entering the labour market", as proof of its commitment to the communities in which it operates and aware of the fact that smart cities must become more and more inclusive. This initiative is strengthened with the ‘Positive Thinking at FCC’ project of FCC Construcción.

FCC's commitment to integration is materialised with other actions: motorised wheelchairs for visitors with reduced mobility, monitors to accompany people with reduced visual acuity during the fair and simultaneous translation of some speeches into sign language. These actions are all part of FCC's social and global commitment to the communities in which it delivers its services.

FCC Industrial will exhibit its efficient public lighting projects rolled out in different municipalities of the country, as well as in relation to the development of the smart grids that transport energy from the source to homes, minimising the associated environmental and economic impact.
One of the highlights of FCC Industrial will be the presentation of the Pintfar robot (a robot programmed to automatically paint street lights), which meets all of the requirements that a Smart City must have: innovation, technology, efficiency, sustainability, zero consumption and applicability.

In addition, the company will use this science and research sharing environment to exhibit its RET0 project (0 Fees for Efficient Homes) and showcase its strengths and capacity to develop efficient dwellings with a zero consumption (residential and non-residential), with the support of the Industry 4.0 and using BIM, Big Data, IoT and blockchain procedures and techniques.

In addition, other projects will be exhibited, such as cybersecurity and critical installations; efficient and sustainable hospitals; urban traffic control and management models; the capacity to create sustainable and efficient urban ecosystems or digitisation in transport and ITS. The energy demands in Smart Cities will also be analysed.

The Citizen Service Group makes a huge contribution to this type of congresses, since it can exhibit the latest innovations developed and their capacity to provide effective and efficient responses to the needs of cities and their inhabitants to its stakeholders. Innovation is in the DNA of FCC since its establishment over one hundred years ago, creating sustainable and efficient communities and ecosystems and improving the quality of life of its citizens on a daily basis.
